US Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Task Order: FEAM NINE Facilities Project
About this Project
AACON was the responsible for designing, procuring, constructing, installing, and testing, and due to the lifesaving mission of these “Safe Havens”, there were several specialized tasks within the SOW. Doors, windows and penetrations were secured with neoprene gasketing material, meeting the “Safe Haven” threshold barrier around each opening. HVAC equipment (RTU’s, AHU’s, Exhaust Fans, etc.) was shut down so that isolation dampers could be installed in the duct work that feeds the “Protected Areas”. Magnetic Door Sensors were installed in all perimeter doors, as well as Master Control Panels in each facility to control the engagement of the emergency system. Emergency Power Generators were also installed to provide resilience during a power outage, guaranteeing the safety of individuals in the “Protected Areas”. AACON successfully executed the specified design criteria required in an over-pressurized system. Our team was proud to participate in the construction of this potentially lifesaving shelter for the community near Blue Grass Ammunition Depot.
